Definition

Waste is defined as follows: any substance or object which the holder discards or which the holder intends or is required to discard.

Waste can arise from industrial, commercial, small-scale or private activities.

Waste which represents a specific danger to people and the environment, because it is composed of one or more harmful elements of determined concentration and/or it possesses one or more hazardous characteristics listed in current legislation, is declared hazardous.
